Day 5 of the Fat Sick and Nearly Dead Reboot

Sorry for the delay.

I had 3 juices on day 5. I had some of the green detox soup and an apple in the afternoon.

I went to a friend’s birthday party and was hungry, so I ordered the only pseudo healthy thing on the menu…Glazed carrots.
I’m not sure what it was glazed with but it looked and tasted like grease. So I limited my intake of those carrots.

Day 2 of the Fat Sick and Nearly Dead Reboot

I woke up quite early, not feeling groggy, but still not ready to get out of bed quite yet, so I tried to sleep for another few hours.  I finally got up and weighed myself, only down one full pound.  A little disappointed in that number since I tend to loose weight quickly when trying. But I started making my juices for the day.  I made 2- 16oz (mason jars) of the “orange juice” and 1 -16oz of the Mean Green Juice (MGJ). I also added a scoop of flavorless organic whey protein.

I also measured my stomach.

I had a few ounces of the Lemon/Ginger hot water and upon arriving at work I had my first ‘Orange” juice.

I drank about 25 ounces of water throughout the work day and had my second juice, the MGJ for lunch.

I felt my headache from yesterday just waiting to return.

I also had a another repeat salad for dinner.

Day 7 of the 7-Day Diet

Finally, the last day of this diet. I can’t call it much of a cleanse because in my opinion when you cleanse you put cleaner foods in your body. Mostly fruits and veggies. Red meat is already harder for your body to digest so that just seems counterproductive to me.

Weighing in this morning I was down less than a half pound.

For breakfast I had an apple, and for lunch I had some more of the soup, I also had the last piece of flank steak. Later I had an orange and some pistachios with a decent amount of water.

You can probably tell, I’m no longer committed to this thing. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I was expecting larger weight loss and I know that following other plans would have likely resulted in the same or greater results but with slightly less food restriction.

If I were to do it again I would likely alter the plan to include fruit, veggies, soup and no meat for 3-5 days.

Overall, my total weight loss was 6.2 pounds and that was without working out or exercising. If I’m down more lbs. in the morning, I’ll edit this post to share.

Thanks for following me on this short journey.

Day 6 of the 7-Day Diet

Today wasn’t a great day for the diet. I woke up starving and without enough time to prepare something according to the plan. So I had a very small bowl of Special K cereal with an Almond and 1% milk mixture. But not before I weighed myself. I’m down about a half a pound. I got in 80 ounces of water yesterday and not the 112 recommended. Could be the culprit but I guess I’ll never know.

I had to work Children’s Church and knew I’d be there for about 5 hours, so I stuffed a bunch a grapes in my bag, filled my water bottle and called it a day.

Luckily, I refrained from snacking on the juice boxes and graham crackers we give to the kids.

But by 2:30 PM I needed some food. I stopped at Chipotle and got a salad. It had beef and chicken, veggies, medium salsa, corn salsa, and guacamole. I only ate about 5-6 spoonfuls before I was full. But I’ll probably eat a little more for dinner. It’s still way too much left to eat in one setting.

Guess I’ll find out in the morning how harmful this was to the diet.

Day 5 of the 7-Day Diet

Woke up this morning feeling great and not tired. This of course happens on the weekend but never during the week when I just beg for morning to come later rather than sooner and usually wake up exhausted.

I gained weight!

I weighed myself and almost screamed in frustration. I’m actually up almost a 1/4 of a pound. Seriously?!?! I gained weight!

This is discouraging to know that restricting my normal diet resulted in adding weight. Maybe it was the potatoes in the soup I don’t know but I’ll be eating around the potatoes now.

For breakfast I cooked two of the three beef products I had purchased from Whole Foods for this diet/cleanse. I seasoned it well and added a lil Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the pan to avoid sticking.

beef tenderloinLet me just say that the Beef Loin Tenderloin Steak was superb. It was so tender and I could tell that before I even cooked it.

I’m not  very knowledgeable about cuts of beef in general, but from what I heard on the news recently the names of the beef  and pork cuts will be changing to make it more consumer friendly.

I ended up only eating one of the steaks it was so tasty but I a used half a teaspoon of A1 Steak sauce because I just love that stuff.  And I made one egg to go along with it. So I cheated a little but at this point I’m not sure it’ll make much difference in the program. I also had a little soup and a tomato while I was cooking the steaks.

For dinner I had more beef and a bowl of soup. I won’t have the 6 whole tomatoes recommended on the plan but the soup contains several tomatoes so hopefully I’ll have had enough.

Water intake should increase from 80 ounces to 112. I’ll try my best to get as close to 112 as possible. But it’s not looking good.

Day 4 of the 7-Day Diet

Milk and Bananas?

Ok let’s give this a try. So I  decided to make a smoothie. I used about 4 bananas in addition to vanilla-flavored Almond milk and 1% milk.   I like bananas but I don’t typically like anything banana flavored. (So don’t give me a strawberry banana smoothie)  The banana smoothie was tolerable but definitely nothing I would revisit again if I didn’t have to.

Oh wait, you probably want to know if I lost more weight. Well I did, but still nothing to call home about. Only 1.2 pounds.  I’m not sure all this sacrifice is worth the progress I’m seeing.  If you’re keeping track up to this point. I’m down a total of 5.2 pounds in four days.

Back to the food…

I had a banana about 2 hours into my day. And snacked on the smoothie, literally all day.  On my way home I stopped at the grocery store to get the Lipton Onion soup mix and a can of corn for the soup.

As I was cutting up the veggies for the soup , I had about 2 cups of the almond and regular mix. It was pretty tasty. I think the vanilla flavor helped me drink two glasses. I’ve never been one to drink milk without the accompaniment of a chocolate chip cookie or a cupcake :-).

The GM soup…

soup

I used:

  • 12 cups of water
  • 4 packets of the soup mix
  • 1 extra large onion
  • 1 extra large tomato
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 6-8 red potatoes
  • celery
  • 1 cabbage head
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • baby carrots
  • sweet canned corn
  • seasonings

.

.
I was surprised at how good the soup was and had a nice size bowl of it. My water intake was low today. About 30 ounces, I have no choice but to do better tomorrow.

Day 1 of the 7-Day Diet

North American "cantaloupes", actual...

Waking up this morning I was a bit hungry and since I had a physical scheduled I had to wait almost until lunch to eat anything. I emptied my bladder and weighed myself.

Not that it really counts for anything but I weighed myself before bed last night, and I was down two pounds after weighing myself this morning.  I have a slight obsession with weighing myself daily. Mainly because my weight fluctuates a lot from day to day. I can loose pounds quickly. 3-5 in a day sometimes, but I digress.

I snacked on about 24 ounces of watermelon and 3/4 of a cantaloupe for most of my work day. The cantaloupe was delicious. I didn’t really drink as much water as I needed to, but I still have about 6 hours before bed so hopefully I can get another 48 ounces in.

At this point my schedule during the week is a bit hectic to try and add consistent exercise, but I hope to get a few daily walks in if nothing more.

Tomorrow’s post will show the lbs. gone from today’s fruit regimen.

EDITED to UPDATE:

I got in about 72 ounces of water for the day.  And I made a pretty awesome smoothie for dinner.  The smoothie was made with mostly frozen fruit including:
